Here is another thing that made me totally crazy when it came to dealing with Galen. Galen rarely does anything. Galen is all about what he is going to do or what he wants to do. Nothing that ever happens. Go on a cruise. Go to a race in Atlanta. Nothing but pipe dreams.
But it is the kind of nonsense that you get so tired of hearing. Some of it you totally shut out. It has been friends and family who have really pointed out all the promises Galen made that were nothing but pipedreams, too. Galen P. Sanderson had the grandest of intentions. But very little motivation. If he wanted to go on a cruise, somebody else darn better book it and pay for it and haul his but to the city of departure.
You can't imagine unless you too have been with a lazy sloth what is is like to watch someone sit in front of the tv, lie on the couch, and sleep in your bed for hours on end with zero motivation to do anything but go to work and let you wait on them hand and foot. The fact that Joy fancies herself as a "slave" or "servant" type person to her lover is the only reason that relationship is working for Galen now. God forbid she ask him to mow the grass or take out the trash (and they don't have a garbage pick up service) or do anything besides lay out the couch and watch tv or go outside to smoke the occasional cigarette if she can kick him in the butt hard enough to get his breathing started again.
